  • My goal is showing the row upon row relationship between the sprout growing out of the ground.
  • The most difficult part is drawing the details of the plants.
  • I faced the challenge by building the light and dark regions of the plants.

    • My goal is showing the light value of black objects and silver objects.
    • The most difficult part is expressing the light value of the dark.

25 Stroke

  • In this artwork, I goal is to paint the ball with shadow by using 25 stroke, and I end up using 20 strokes.
  • I accomplished this work by sketching the shape first, and then use stroke to add color to it to express different values.
  • My paint is about using shape and color to express the shape of the ball under light condition within 25 strokes.
  • The most difficult challenge is keeping the number of stroke low while considering about the color combination.
  • I meet the challenge by trying to keep brush on the canvas and pickup a lot of color each time.
  • The color choice of my painting is really appealing!
  • In next painting, I want to improve the detail to make it more elegant.
  • Lauren's painting is very good because gradual change of color indicate the light source.
  • If I can, I will redo the edge of the ball and made a more dimensional shadow!
  • I feel best about the color I used, which looks very lovely.

Touching no edge

  • In this artwork, my goal is to paint the ball with shadow without touching edge: using different color to show different shadow and different dimension.
  • I accomplished this artwork by sketching the shape of the ball and shadow first, and then I used different colors to draw light, dark, and medium shadows. I left red line between each shadows to emphasize the difference.
  • My paint is about using colors to express the shape and dimension.
  • The most difficult challenge is keeping red line between each shadows, and making the shadow looks real.
  • I meet the challenge by using pencils to map out red line and modifying the shape and build up from before.
  • The overexposed region of right side looks very special, and I like the appearance of that region.
  • In next painting, I will try to make the red line more clear and obvious.
  • Genna's painting is appealing to me because the gradual change of color indicate the light source.
  • If I can, I will redo the shadow of the ball, and making the red line more clear!
  • I feel best about the color chose of this painting.

Painting with Peggi

  • I learned how the other artists examine and gaze at the an object to paint. They break down different dimension into different color block because different dimensions have different color reflections. They teach us how to show our color.
  • I learned the impressionism and abstract art from Kroll's work. By looking at the shape and color of the painting, one can figure out what the drawing is about abstractly. Also, the value expressed in color reflection and be understand.
  • Mapping means the construction and lay out the colors, which plans where to put which color.
  • I know that the value, shape, and shadow are expressed by color contracting of different block, which shows the dimension and 3-D shape by imagination.
  • Mr. Gaudreau try to let us understand blending of color: almost all color are not pure color but the results of blending the color system. Blending creates fascinating colors that are not expressed by simple color. Also, darker color contribute to the shadow and lighter color contribute to reflection, depends on how many dark color added.
  • Artistic ideas: start from shape and value instead of detail and smaller detail. You can always change your drawing afterwards. Color is the result of bleeding. Paintbrush always need to use the same size.
  • Drawing faster maybe easily get the big idea and shape about the drawing, and working fast can give raise to inspiration some time.
  • The lines are used to build up the shape of the object. The color is used to show 3-D dimension on the 2-D paper. The space is not shown, and all the space will ultimately be filled. The texture can be created by the way of using print brush. The value is created by blending color to express the setting.
  • Painterly means the right quality of color, texture, and stroke rather than line. Proper color, texture, and stroke express the value which artist what to have.
  • I want to use color blending more effectively to show the value. And learn how to create color block by looking at real object in real life, abstracting into painting.
